Self-leadership is an indispensable skill for today’s healthcare leaders. A leader’s ability to effectively govern their emotions, communication, and motivation provides insight into their capacity to lead others. Leaders and managers with strong self-leadership skills are crucial to helping organizations achieve their goals.

Include the following sections:

  1. Application of Course Knowledge: Answer all questions/criteria with explanations and detail.
    • Explain the relationship of self-leadership to leadership competency. How does a leader’s self-leadership skills impact those they lead?
    • Identify one self-leadership skill that you consider to be a strength.
    • Identify one self-leadership skill in which you have an opportunity for improvement.
    • Discuss two strategies to cultivate your self-leadership skills.
  1. Engagement in Meaningful Dialogue: Engage peers by asking questions, and offering new insights, applications, perspectives, information, or implications for practice:
    • Respond to at least one peer.
    • Respond to a second peer post.
    • Communicate using respectful, collegial language and terminology appropriate to advanced nursing practice.
  1. Professionalism in Communication: Communicate with minimal errors in English grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation.
  2. Wednesday Participation Requirement: Provide a substantive response to the Collaboration Café topic (not a response to a peer), by Wednesday, 11:59 p.m. MT of each week.
  3. Total Participation Requirement: Provide at least three substantive posts (one to the initial question or topic and two to student peers) on two different days during the week.
