I chose to write about this specific leader because she had different impacts on different members of the team at the time we worked together. The building had just been bought by another company and the leadership team had concerns with change. It was my first month as a unit manager in a busy nursing rehab facility. The administrator had been fired, and staff was uneasy. The company brought in an interim administrator to manage the transition. She was very experienced and had “turned around” many struggling nursing centers. She was an intimidating figure, stern, serious, but very fair.
